We are thrilled to announce that AWN’s Animation Pimp and OIAF artistic director Chris Robinson is hanging up his pimp hat to return as a contributing editor, bringing his unique perspective to covering the art and business of animation.

With an emphasis on independent international animation and the animation festival scene, Robinson will serve up daily posts about a wide range of themes, topics and films. Each week he will also turn the spotlight on new and old animation shorts. Robinson’s reputation as a smart, engaged and provocative animation writer/thinker is sure to enrage and enlighten readers.

Robinson’s connection with AWN goes back to the site’s beginnings when the OIAF was among the first festival to partner with the fledging website. In 2000, Robinson came on board to author the monthly Animation Pimp column. Personal, profound, and often profane, the Pimp quickly became one of the most infamous columns in the animation scene. In 2007, the columns were edited into a book that featured illustrations by noted German animator Andreas Hykade. Robinson would later pen another AWN-published book on the late Canadian animator Ryan Larkin. In 2014, Robinson also started up the Animation Pimpcast on AWN, a monthly podcast featuring unscripted one on one interviews with international animators.

Stay tuned for Robinson’s daily posts, beginning on Monday, November 7!
