London/New York, 5 October 2010: Nickelodeon USA has picked up a second season of hit pre-school show OLIVIA from leading family entertainment producer and distributor Chorion.

Based on the award-winning, best-selling book series by Ian Falconer, the new series of 26 x 11’ episodes plus 1 x 22’ special will be delivered to Nickelodeon in the USA in November 2010 followed by other key territories. To date, the new series has been pre-bought by TF1 France, ABC TV Australia and the Disney Channel in Japan and Latin America.

Geraint Marsh, SVP Television Sales at Chorion, says: “OLIVIA has become a major global TV hit appealing to moms and pre-schoolers around the world so we are thrilled Nickelodeon USA has committed to a second season. We look forward to signing further deals for this highly anticipated second season with new and existing broadcast partners.”

OLIVIA continues to be a hugely successful brand for Chorion, following an outstanding first season TV launch in over 130 countries. The first wave of OLIVIA consumer products and toys, which are produced by global master toy licensee Spin Master, have proven to be hugely popular since hitting the shelves in the USA this Autumn. The 2-in-1 Transforming Playset has received rave reviews by parents and is the recipient of two awards, the iParenting 2010 Outstanding Product Award and The National Parenting Centre Top Toy Award.

Simon and Schuster’s TV tie-in books have been very successful since their November 2009 launch and three new book titles are due to launch later this season including OLIVIA Claus which is tied to the release of the new DVD title, Merry Christmas, OLIVIA. International consumer products roll-out is scheduled for 2011.

Animated by the Academy Award nominated company Brown Bag Films, OLIVIA launched on Nickelodeon USA in January 2009.

Olivia is today’s girl. She is a 6 ¾ old dynamo who believes she can do anything and sees every day as an opportunity to try new things. Her vivid imagination takes her on grand adventures, both real and fantasy, and like all children, her antics occasionally result in endearing misadventures. Olivia’s confidence and positive nature inspires kids everywhere to think boldly and follow their dreams.
