Chicken Little Hatches on DVD

CHICKEN LITTLE, the first all 3D-animated feature from Walt Disney Feature Animation, makes its DVD bow March 21, 2006 (Walt Disney Home Ent., $29.99). Directed by Mark Dindal and produced by Randy Fullmer (THE EMPERORS NEW GROOVE), and featuring the voice talents of Zach Braff (Chicken Little), Garry Marshall (Buck Cluck), Joan Cusack (Abby Mallard) and the late Don Knotts (Mayor Turkey Lurkey), CHICKEN LITTLE takes its inspiration from the classic Goofy shorts, particularly in the heroic baseball sequence.

The CHICKEN LITTLE DVD offers a host of bonus materials, including deleted scenes; Cracking New Ground, an inside look at the production of the landmark animated feature for Disney; Hatching CHICKEN LITTLE, the making-of doc; and two music videos offering new animation: ONE LITTLE SLIP (performed by Barenaked Ladies) and SHAKE YOUR TAIL FEATHER (performed by The Cheetah Girls).

One interesting deleted sequence reveals that Chicken Little was originally a girl with a bow around her head (voiced by Holly Hunter). Part of the Cracking New Ground segment includes a discussion of implementing squash-and-stretch in 3D using the Goofy shorts as inspiration.
