The Boy with the Golden Toothbrush

Press Release from CharacterShop

Every animation studio would quite literally kill to have their work playing in cinemas alongside some of the greatest Hollywood kid’s movies, including smash hits from Pixar and DreamWorks.

Luckily, CharacterShop didn't have to kill anyone to realise this lofty ambition - we just had to produce 'The Boy with the Golden Toothbrush', a stunning 5 minute mini-movie for Aquafresh Kids which will be showing at Cineworld cinemas from 2nd April 2011 for 12 months during their Aquafresh sponsored 'Movies for Juniors' programme on weekend mornings.

The film tells the story of how young Olly finds a magical Golden Toothbrush in his attic, which transports him to Nurdle World, where he finds out all about tooth care for kids. Showing in full, glorious HD technicolour with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, our animation has never looked and sounded so good.

Made from script to screen in an incredible nine weeks, ‘The Boy with the Golden Toothbrush’ forms part of ‘The Aquafresh Show’ – a fun ten-minute programme featuring live action composited over animated backgrounds that teaches parents and kids about good tooth care for children. Written and presented by Miranda Larson, the programme was co-produced by CharacterShop with Good Egg Media for Kids Industries.

In addition, CharacterShop have produced a 30 second animated advert for ‘Movies for Juniors’ to be shown in Cineworld cinemas; a 90-second animated advert featuring Olly and the Nurdles teaching about good brushing technique with a fun song to be shown daily at bedtime on Boomerang and Cartoonito from 14th April; six thirty second commercials for the web which will show on Cartoon Network and a variety of other kids websites, each using the adventures of our heroes to teach a different aspect of good oral hygiene.

As part of a big push by Glaxo Smithkline to promote Aquafresh as the premier children’s toothpaste brand, CharacterShop have re-designed the existing Nurdle characters who feature in the animation and will appear on all packaging and branding material.

All of these productions have been produced by Mark Vale and directed by Bob Cosford for the CharacterShop and written by Miranda Larson of Kids Industries.
