The beloved luxury brand has transformed BLACKPINK member Jennie and actors Margaret Qualley and Amandla Stenberg into 2D models for the 2023 ‘Coco Crush’ campaign, though some are complaining the campaign is off-brand and doesn’t properly credit the animation team.
Things are getting quite animated at Chanel. The beloved luxury brand has transformed BLACKPINK member Jennie, along with actors Margaret Qualley and Amandla Stenberg, into 2D models for the 2023 "Coco Crush" campaign. All three women currently serve as the live-action faces of the jewelry campaign as well. Watch the animated concept films featuring Qualley and Stenberg now:
Unfortunately, the unique concept has angered fans, who claim the videos are off-brand, and do not properly credit the animation team. Also, it appears that Jennie’s video is absent from all Chanel’s social media channels after complaints that the character does not resemble the performer. Do we smell a “hint” of a scandal?
Although fans seem to dislike the addition of animation to the classic clothier’s advertising repertoire, Coco Crush is a fine jewelry line specifically targeting a younger audience. In addition to the youthful animation style, all models chosen are Gen Z icons.
