The xenomorphs are back! The ninth entry in the immensely popular and enduring Alien series is underway at 20th Century Studios, and will star Cailee Spaeny (Mare of Easttown). In the sci-fi horror film, a group of young people on a distant world find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe.

Starring alongside Spaeny are David Jonsson (Industry), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Isabela Merced (Rosaline), Spike Fearn (The Batman) and Aileen Wu (Away from Home). Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead, The Girl in the Spider’s Web) directs from a screenplay co-written with frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues.

Ridley Scott, director of the original Alien film, as well as Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, will produce the upcoming untitled film with Michael Pruss (Boston Strangler, upcoming) under their Scott Free banner, with Brent O’Connor (Bullet Train), Elizabeth Cantillon (Persuasion) and Tom Moran (The Donut King) serving as executive producers.

Also in production is an untitled Alien series at FX, with Noah Hawley (Fargo) directing. The series will mirror the tone of Scott’s Alien and James Cameron’s Aliens, and promises to provide an experience that will catch audiences off guard.

Alien 9 began production yesterday, March 9, in Budapest.
