Cast Revealed for Neil Gaiman’s ‘The Sandman’

Patton Oswalt, voicing Matthew the Raven, joins David Thewlis, Jenna Coleman, and Stephen Fry in Netflix’s dark fantasy series based on the popular DC comic books; show follows people and places affected by Morpheus, the Dream King, as he mends his cosmic and human mistakes.

Netflix has announced that the adaptation of “The Sandman DC comic book series by Neil Gaiman (Good Omens, Coraline) is underway. This should be welcome news to the dedicated fan base of the dark fantasy series which suffered a previous failed attempt at a big screen adaptation; in 2013, Warner Bros. announced that David S. Goyer would be producing a film based on the DC property starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who dropped out in 2016.

Gaiman is also serving as executive producer and co-writer of the upcoming series being produced by Warner Bros. Television. In his blog, Gaiman describes the series as “a rich blend of modern myth and dark fantasy in which contemporary fiction, historical drama and legend are seamlessly interwoven. The Sandman follows the people and places affected by Morpheus, the Dream King, as he mends the cosmic — and human — mistakes he's made during his vast existence.”
