Cartoon Network UK Buys Berliner Film’s Da Boom Crew

Cartoon Network UK has bought the first season of DA BOOM CREW, a European production from the Berliner Film Companie, slated for its U.K. premiere on Sept. 5, 2005, at 5:00 pm.

Now airing on Kids WB! In the U.S., the sci-fi comedy/adventure follows four young friends who create their own action-packed intergalactic videogame, but when a freak power surge opens up an electrical vortex, they get sucked into a parallel world exactly like their game.

Da Boom Crew teammates have become the heroes theyve always dreamed about, complete with new weapons, cool spaceships and an intergalactic crisis to stop. However, all the vicious aliens and twisted super-villains are very real, too, and theyll stop at nothing to wipe out Da Boom Crew for good.

DA BOOM CREW series has already been sold to several international countries. The show premiered on Kids WB! It garnered the networks best ever 11:30 am debut for boys 6-11, tweens 9-14 and male tweens 9-14. The series outperformed the broadcast and cable competition for its timeslot to rank as the number one series for the same demographic groups.

Finn Arnesen, svp of programming, acquisitions and development for Cartoon Network, EMEA, said, DA BOOM CREW combines the comedic and cheeky elements of Cartoon Network with the action, adventure style of Toonami, all essential factors for a successful primetime kids show.

DA BOOM CREW was produced by BFC in association with Jambalaya Studio in Los Angeles and there is already a second season in production.
