Cartoon Network has announced that it will change its action-adventure programming line-up by shifting the Toonami block to Saturdays and creating the new block Miguzi.
Beginning April 17, Toonami will air from 7:00 11:00 pm. The Saturday night version of Toonami will continue to be hosted by TOM and feature series such as DRAGONBALL Z, YU YU HAKUSHO and TRANSFORMERS: ENERGON. Other series to air exclusively as part of Toonami's include GUNDAM SEED, DRAGONBALL GT and RUROUNI KENSHIN.
"We're putting our top action and animé series for the new Toonami block and keeping it fresh each week with premieres," said Jim Samples, evp/gm Cartoon Network Worldwide. "Toonami has come to mean the best action and animé on TV, so now we've created a new Saturday night destination just for it."
To launch the block Cartoon Network will present the U.S. TV premiere of BIONICLE: MASK OF LIGHT at 8 pm. Cartoon Network's newest original series MEGAS XLR will premiere in the block on May 1 at 9:00 pm. The show follows wrestling fanatic Coop and his suped-up junkyard robot Megas XLR as they are called on to save the Earth.
Replacing Toonami on weekdays, Miguzi will air Monday through Friday from 5:00 7:00 pm beginning April 19. The new interactive block will feature CG host Erin who broadcasts from a submersed ship along with giant sea monster The Leviathan. The block will also feature live-action segments profiling entertainers, athletes and everyday heroes ranging from comic book artists to the country's top street basketball players.
Programs set to air during Miguzi include TOTALLY SPIES, CODE LYOKO, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES and TEEN TITANS.
