Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) has signed a multi-year deal with Israel's first and only DTH operator Yes to show Cartoon Network. The Turner toon network will be offered as a 24-hour channel alongside TCM (Turner Classic Movies) and CNN International on Yes' channel packages which will launch in the second half of 2000. "Yes is extremely proud of its association with TBS," said Yona Wiesenthal, Senior Vice President of Content, Yes. "The Israeli public will finally enjoy the leading cartoon series and the entrance of Yes into the multi-channel television market in Israel will bring about a significant change and up-grade of the broadcasting market." Ron Ciccone, vice president and managing director for Turner's operations in the Middle East, said, "We are very pleased that Yes has taken such a strong initiative in bringing these superb channels to the people of Israel. Cartoon Network and the other channels have enjoyed enormous success throughout the Middle East and will now be available to the Israeli people via satellite."
