Calon TV Acquires Rights to Back Catalogue

Independent TV production company Calon TV has secured the distribution rights to its back catalogue of award-winning children's animation. Studio manager Lynne Stockford has been appointed to manage international sales following the reversion of the distribution rights from S4C International.

The list of programs includes such hits as the BAFTA-winning HANA'S HELPLINE, which currently airs on Five; Welsh language classic SALI MALI; '80s fav WIL CWAC CWAC, UNDER MILK WOOD and the feature film THE PRINCESS AND THE GOBLIN.

Lynne, who worked as studio manager on SALI MALI and UNDER MILK WOOD, has lined up a series of meetings with international buyers at MIPTV later this month.

The second series of HANA'S HELPLINE, the pre-school stop-motion animation based on an agony aunt duck who solves the problems of her young animal friends, has already been sold to German broadcaster ZDF.

Managing director, Robin Lyons, said, "The company strategy is to take more direct control over distribution. With the reversion of the rights, we want to exploit the licensing opportunities as part of our IP strategy."

Lynne added, "Calon TV is not just a production company, it is an IP company that generates IP and exploits it. These characters are classics, well-loved by children and we intend to capitalize on them."

Lynne will be at the UK Indies Stand at MIPTV.
