Call for Entries: School in Motion Festival Launches in Italy

Submit up to three short films with educational and scholastic themes of any length or technique to compete for four cash prizes up to €4,500.

Italian educational non-profit organization Education Multimedia & Innovation has issued a call for entries for its School in Motion Festival, an international animation festival dedicated exclusively to the world of education.

Falling under Italy’s national Cinema for Schools plan, the initiative is backed by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research and by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities. EMI was created with the aim of spreading animation within educational sector in the belief that they can make the school better, more varied and stimulating.

The School in Motion Festival is seeking submissions of short films using any animation technique that contain educational and scholastic themes. To be eligible, films must be either unpublished or made within the past five years. Submissions must be in Italian without subtitles and should contain content suitable in terms of language and complexity for children between the ages of 11 and 14

At the end of the Festival the short films will be made available on the School in Motion YouTube channel and dedicated website, where each film will be accompanied by a rich, illustrative text.

Four prizes are available :

  • 1st video classified: €4,500
  • 2nd video classified: €3,000
  • 3rd video classified: €1,500
  • Special Audience Award: €1,000
