‘Calamity, A Childhood of Martha Jane Cannary’ Wins Top Honor at CineKid 2020

Rémi Chayé’s feature takes the award for Best Children’s Film; other animated film winners include ‘Matilda and the Spare Head;’ ‘Human Nature;’ and ‘INKT.’

Calamity, A Childhood of Martha Jane Cannary, the French-Danish animated feature by Rémi Chayé, won the Cinekid Lion for Best Children’s Film at CineKid 2020. Other animation honored included Matilda and the Spare Head by Ignas Meilūnas, winning for Best International Animated Short; Human Nature by Sverre Fredriksen, awarded Best Dutch Animation Short; and INKT by Joost van den Bosch and Erik Verkerk, which received the National Audience Award.

The 34th edition of Cinekid was the largest festival program ever with more than 50 feature films, 150 shorts and 25 television series, of which 100 were premieres from 40 countries. This year it was a hybrid event for the public and was presented solely online for professionals.
