Brad Bird Developing ‘Incredibles 3’ at Pixar

The Oscar-winning writer and director of both ‘The Incredibles’ and ‘Incredibles 2’ returns for the third installment, which will follow the continued antics of the fan favorite Super-family; a release date has not been announced.

Pixar Animation Studios’ Pete Docter took to the D23 stage this past weekend to make numerous exciting announcements, including the brief reveal that one special fan favorite Super-family will head back to the big screen in Incredibles 3. The newest franchise installment is officially in the works at Pixar Animation Studios with Brad Bird developing. Bird wrote and directed both The Incredibles, which earned him an Oscar, and Incredibles 2, for which he received an Oscar nomination. Bird also won an Oscar for Pixar’s Ratatouille.

The franchise follows the family of undercover superheroes Helen (aka Elastigirl), Bob (Mr. Incredible), and their children superpowered children Violet, Dash, and baby Jack-Jack.

Incredibles 2 was previously the highest grossing film for the studio, only recently surpassed by Inside Out 2.

A release date has not yet been set. No word either on how this new project will impact Bird’s film, Ray Gunn currently being developed at Skydance Animation, which purchased the rights to the film in 2022, reuniting the Oscar-winning director with his former boss John Lasseter.
