The Weinstein Co.'s prohibition-era drama Lawless stayed at number two on its second outing, grossing $6 million for a 10-day domestic total of $23.5 million.
The Bradley Cooper-Zoe Saldana drama The Words opened at number three, grossing $5 million for distributor CBS Films.
In fourth place, The Expendables 2, from Lionsgate and Millennium Films, brought in $4.8million this weekend for a total of $75.4 million.
Universal’s The Bourne Legacy followed in fifth place, earning $4 million for a total of $103.7 million.
Focus Features' animated family film ParaNorman came in sixth place, earning $3.8 million. The 3D stop-motion feature produced by Laika, the creative force behind Coraline, has now grossed a total of $45.1 million in its four weeks at the box office.
At number seven, Buena Vista’s The Odd Life of Timothy Green, starring Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton as a childless couple who dream up a 10-year-old boy, made $3.7 million on its fourth week out for a total of $43 million.
Warner Bros.' raunchy political comedy The Campaign, starring Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis, came in eighth place again this weekend, making $3.5 million for a total of $79.4 million.
In ninth place, Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises brought in $3.3 million over the weekend, for a total now at $437.8 million.
Rounding out the list at number 10, Sony’s Hope Springs, starring Meryl Streep, Tommy Lee Jones and Steve Carell, made $2.8 million on its fifth weekend at the box office for a total of $57.5 million.
Also making box office news, the Henry Cavill action movie In the Cold Light of Day, directed by Mabrouk El Mechri and also starring Sigourney Weaver, Veronica Echegui and Bruce Willis, came in number 13 for its debut, bringing in a paltry $1.8 million.
