Fully awesome! Walt Disney Studios Home Ent. will release BOLT in high definition early as a Blu-ray + DVD + Digital File combo on Sunday, March 22, 2009. Two days following, the standard DVD versions will be available.
The DVD 2-disc Deluxe Edition and BD 3-Disc both include a special "DisneyFile" Digital Copy of the movie -- enabling DVD and Blu-ray owners to receive a digital version of Walt Disney Pictures' BOLT in their choice of iTunes or Windows Media formats for the fan on the go. BOLT is jam packed with fully awesome bonus features including "Super Rhino," a new exclusive short film starring Bolt's biggest fan.
Nominated for two Golden Globe Awards for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Song ("I Thought I Lost You"), BOLT was produced by Pixar co-founder and CGI pioneer John Lasseter (director of TOY STORY, A BUG'S LIFE and CARS).
Bolt (voiced by John Travolta) is the star of the biggest show in Hollywood. The only problem is, he thinks the whole thing is real. When the super dog is accidentally shipped to New York City and separated from Penny (voiced by Miley Cyrus), his beloved co-star and owner, Bolt springs into action to find his way home. Together with his hilarious new sidekicks Rhino (voiced by Mark Walton) -- Bolt's #1 Fan -- and a street-smart cat named Mittens (voiced by Susie Essman), Bolt sets off on an amazing journey where he discovers he doesn't need super powers to be a hero.
Co-director Chris Williams says, "There's something in our DNA where we're always referencing back to Disney classics. But at the same time, we work with John Lasseter now and he's always going to be pushing you to create really great original characters that resonate. And that's very much the Pixar way, where you want to do something new and exciting. So I think we're in a place where we can benefit from that Pixar approach to constructing story, but at the same time, have this heritage that people are always talking about: those classic Disney movies. You always feel that flavor, I think."
Meanwhile, for the character animators, the challenges of BOLT meant creating a completely new working method. While Bolt is the lead character, Rhino posed the most unique problems. The first thing was to make the character look appealing. To hone in on the best designs, the team created something called "paloozas," which are a creative refining process that began with a successful "Boltapalooza" (for the dog) and progressed to "Mittenspalooza" (for the cat), "Pennypalooza" (for the human girl) and "Rhinopalooza" (for the hamster). The team also underwent an enormous change in workflow. Instead of moving from modeling to rigging to animation, which would then go back and forth for approvals, and could cause huge problems if a rigging change was required, they worked more collaboratively. There was the formation of a character team that worked interactively, starting with modeling and moving to rigging and then to animation, but proceeding back and forth in a fluid, circular motion. This system has proved so effective that the change in workflow has become the new standard at Disney.

THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS: TOKYO DRIFT: THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS: TOKYO DRIFT explodes with energy and power as it goes behind the wheel with some of the most daring drivers the world has ever seen. Lucas Black stars as Sean Boswell, a teen street racer who discovers "drifting," the deadly combination of brutal speed and terrifying hairpin turns and switchbacks in Tokyo. With Bow Wow as his con-artist sidekick and Sonny Chiba as a dangerous Yakuza, THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS: TOKYO DRIFT DVD features out-of control bonuses that take this movie experience to its limits.
Some 10 vendors contributed to the project, including (in credits order): Hammerhead (206 shots), Rhythm & Hues (123), CIS Hollywood (172), CafeFX (58), Pacific Title (164), Illusion Arts (4), Industrial Light & Magic (2), Perpetual Motion Picture (19), Digital Backlot (4) and Hatch FX, who provided cliff extensions and a complete environment for six Hammerhead shots. Sixteen additional shots were created by Proof, the previsualization unit set up by overall visual effects supervisor Mike Wassel, a veteran of the first two movies. Coordinating the project with Wassel were vfx producer Crystal Dowd and vfx plate producer Lynn Gephart.
In the two previous movies, visual effects were often utilized to create impossible camera moves, and to simulate car stunts that were too dangerous to perform live. In the third movie, the requirements were completely different. "Director Justin Lin wanted the car races and action sequences to feel real," Wassel recalls. "He avoided using the kind of impossible shots that we had in the first two movies. On this project, the main requirements of the visual effects were creating greenscreen composites for car interior shots, and also placing the action in Tokyo, Japan. Some of the car races take place in the Japanese capital, but it was impossible to have the streets closed down for our location shoot. So, we had to create the environment digitally, which became a huge challenge."

This March, get ready to whistle while you work as Lionsgate releases a new twist on the classic tale of "Snow White and The Seven Dwarves" with the animated DVD HAPPILY N'EVER AFTER 2. Fairy tales collide when Mambo and Munk tip the scales of good and evil once again. QUANTUM OF SOLACE ON DVD and Blu-ray
The high-octane action of the world's most famous secret agent continues when QUANTUM OF SOLACE explodes onto Blu-ray and DVD on March 24 from MGM and Fox Home Ent.
A worldwide box office phenomenon, QUANTUM OF SOLACE has broken countless records and scored among the top 20 film openings of all time in 67 international territories. Bond... James Bond remains one of the world's largest and most successful film franchises with 22 films to date.
Starting shortly after CASINO ROYALE ends, Daniel Craig returns as James Bond, betrayed by the woman he loved and determined to find those responsible for her death. His pursuit and determination lead him deeper into the criminal organization known as "Quantum" and into the company of Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), an environmentalist using his wealth and power to help overthrow a government in exchange for a barren piece of desert land that will allow him to control the country's water supply. Forced to work without the help of MI6, Bond partners with Camille (Olga Kurylenko), a young woman on her own quest for justice, and together they travel across the globe in order to stop Greene and seek retribution.
The 22nd film in the James Bond franchise, QUANTUM OF SOLACE features many familiar faces from 2006's CASINO ROYALE including Academy Award winner Dame Judi Dench as Bond's closest confidant, M, Giancarlo Giannini as Rene Mathis and Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter. The Blu-ray Disc and two-disc special edition DVD contains special features including behind-the-scenes featurettes, crew files, plus a music video for "Another Way to Die" featuring Jack White and Alicia Keys.
QUANTUM OF SOLACE will be available on Blu-ray, single disc DVD and two disc Special Edition DVD.
Director Marc Forster naturally tapped several of his long-time crew members, including Visual Effects Designer Kevin Tod Haug. Working with Double Negative, Framestore, Machine FX, MPC and MK12, Haug oversaw 900 vfx shots within the long-standing Bond tradition of depicting realistic-looking action.
"I pretty much did what I've always done for Marc," Haug suggests. "There is a certain amount of polishing that Marc needs out of the visual effects department because he's developed a recognition that a certain amount of what is too expensive to do on the day could be managed later: 'I know I have the raw material here and ultimately I want to see how it cuts before I deal with some of these issues.' And unlike a lot of directors who go back and do reshoots, he just fixes them. So the stuff tends to be 98% there. There's just that little bit of tweaking to make things look better. Since STAY, we usually have our own in-house level of compositing so that we can do what I call 'editorially-driven visual effects': splitting performances and retiming things, taking a performance from one scene and putting it in another in order to shorten a scene or transplant a scene or a performance.

SESAME STREET -- FOLLOW THAT BIRD 25th Anniversary on DVD
Sunny days! Warner Home Video is releasing the classic family film SESAME STREET: FOLLOW THAT BIRD in a newly re-mastered 25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition. The DVD tells the story of Big Bird's cross country adventure while members of his SESAME STREET family set out to find him. This release will be restored to its original theatrical widescreen format and will feature collectible packaging as well as all-new enhanced content.
The first Sesame Street theatrical movie, SESAME STREET: FOLLOW THAT BIRD, takes viewers on a cross-country adventure in search of Big Bird (Caroll Spinney) who decides to run away from home after he's placed with a foster family of Dodo birds by Miss Finch, a social worker who is convinced that Big Bird should live with his own breed - birds - instead of his diverse family at Sesame Street.
Big Bird attempts to find his way home while friends, Maria, Cookie Monster, Count von Count, Bert and Ernie, Grover, Oscar and several others, set out to find him. TALES OF THE BLACK FREIGHTER brings to strikingly animated life the graphic novel's richly layered story-within-a-story. Within the graphic novel, TALES OF THE BLACK FREIGHTER, appears as a comic book read by a young man in New York City while the city is being destroyed. This daring pirate saga chronicles a sailor's journey home from being marooned. During his journey, the young seaman is "forced by the urgency of his mission to shed one inhibition after another" and experience horrible events along the way. The turbulent events the sailor endures seem to mirror those in the Watchmen's world.
Hollis Mason's tell-all autobiography, UNDER THE HOOD, chronicles the events in Hollis Mason's life that led to him to become the masked avenger Nite Owl and discusses how the Minutemen were formed. It features the original Sally Spectre, the Comedian, Moloch the Mystic, along with Hollis Mason, the original Nite Owl.
UNDER THE HOOD is directed by Eric Matthies, written by Hans Rodionoff and produced by Eric Matthies and Wesley Coller. Stars Carla Gugino, Matt Frewer, Stephen McHattie and Jeffrey Dean Morgan appear as their characters from the theatrical WATCHMEN film in this live-action documentary-style special.
