Blacklist & Studio AKA Tell the Sweetest Story Ever Told About Salt

Blacklist and Studio AKA craft a 90-second short film for Morton Salt that provides a dog’s eye view of the changing winter landscape and how it affects family pets and their backyard best-friendships.

NEW YORK -- Blacklist has announced the release of “Neighbors”, an adorable animated short that will have dog-lovers everywhere wagging their tails with delight. Commissioned by Morton Salt, Inc., Blacklist along with Studio AKA were commissioned to craft this 90-second film, bringing us a dog’s eye view of the changing winter landscape and how it affects our family pets and their backyard best-friendships.

In addition to a select cinema release, “Neighbors” will air digitally and serves as an illustration of the ongoing transition from traditional advertising to story and character-driven branded content suited for a digital-age audience. The film follows two dogs, Lucy & George, who are separated by snowy circumstance and miss each other greatly. With a nostalgic and stylistic nod towards classic cartoons, it’s a story sure to warm the hearts of viewers this winter season.

Directed by Studio AKA’s Marc Craste with art direction from Olga Stern and characters designed by Steve Small, the film was produced as a blend of CGI and painted backgrounds, with hand drawn refinements to the animation created by AKA’s team of animators and assistants, giving the characters extra warmth and likability. A terrific music score by Antfood adds just the right amount of nostalgia, while managing to keep the film feeling contemporary.
