Blacklist Creates CG Spot for Nike

Blacklist’s Polynoid creates an all-CG spot, “Deadly Breed,” for Nike’s new Hypervenom shoe featuring some serious bite.

NEW YORK – Blacklist animation studio Polynoid has created an all-CG spot, “Deadly Breed,” for Nike’s new Hypervenom shoe that features some serious bite. The commercial, from W + K Portland, launched on the web and in stores on May 29.

The Polynoid team used real-life gym locker rooms as reference material for creating the look of the interior, then watched BBC natural history films to get a feeling for how creatures like snakes and scorpions move. Animators used ZBrush and Softimage to create 3D elements, which were then rendered out in Solid Angle's Arnold prior to compositing inside Nuke.

While Blacklist has collaborated with W+K Portland on several projects in the past, “Deadly Breed” marks the first spot Polynoid has completed for the brand. Watch the ad, below:
