Bill Damaschke returns to the toon industry as president of animation and family entertainment for Skydance Media.

Former CCO of DreamWorks Animation Bill Damaschke returns to animation as president of animation and family entertainment for Skydance Media.

The 20-year veteran of DreamWorks will set the overall creative direction and strategy for Skydance’s animation and family entertainment division.

Skydance launched its animation division in March, partnering with Ilion Animation Studios in Spain.

Damaschke will run a team that looks to produce a “bold and original slate of both animated and hybrid family programming.” The programming will span both film and television.

The two projects Skydance is developing have deep DreamWorks ties: Luck is a comedy, written by Kung Fu Panda series scribes Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger and directed by Alessandro Carloni, head of story on How to Train Your Dragon, Shark Tale and Kung Fu Panda; and Split is directed by Vicky Jenson, whose credits include Shrek and Shark Tale.
