Big, Big World Expands to Finland, Denmark, Poland and Middle East

Contender Entertainment Group has sold children's puppet-and-animation-based show IT'S A BIG BIG WORLD to television channels in four major territories.

Contender, the company behind preschool properties PEPPA PIG and TRACTOR TOM, holds the international rights for the hit PBS Kids show, which has now secured slots on DR Denmark, YLE Finland, Canal+ Cyfrowy Poland and Al Jazeera Kids in the Middle East.

The four broadcasters have already begun dubbing IT'S A BIG BIG WORLD into Danish, Finnish, Polish and Arabic. They expect to launch the first 40x30 series of the show in their respective territories in 2009.

The deal links IT'S A BIG BIG WORLD with some important names in international children's programming. DR and YLE are both key Scandinavian broadcasters with which Contender has an established relationship, while Poland's Canal+ Cyfrowy is also a well established and strong kids TV platform in its market and one that is actively working with a number of licensing partners. JCC, Al Jazeera Kids Channel, is a relative newcomer but, building on the strength of the Al Jazeera brand, it already has a strong reputation for quality kids programming both across the Middle East and internationally.

Based on the positive response of the market to date, more episodes of the show are in development.

In every episode, children are taken on a journey of exploration and discovery with the lovable tree sloth Snook and his friends, a group of animals living in the rainforest.
