Ben Kingsley is in negotiations to board Gavin Hood's adaptation of ENDER'S GAME, reports Heat Vision. He would play a war hero believed to be dead. The cast already includes HUGO's Asa Butterfield and TRUE GRIT's Hailee Steinfeld. Harrison Ford is being sought for Colonel Hyrum Graff.
Based on Orson Scott Card's novel, the story follows young super-intelligent gamers who are recruited to use simulators to fight back against alien attackers.
Hood (X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE) also wrote the script. K/O Paper Products' Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, Odd Lot’s Gigi Pritzker and Linda McDonough, Card and Lynn Hendee are producing. VFX firm Digital Domain is co-funding the production.
Summit Ent. has set March 15, 2013 for the film's release.
