BBC To Unveil Musical Freefonix

The BBC has announced the launch of new CGI series FREEFONIX, a co-production of Cinnamon Entertainment (U.K.) and Method Films (Paris) that was animated in India. The 40x30 show, one of the largest in its genre put together by a U.K. production company and the largest commission by the BBC for an animation aimed at seven- to 11-year-olds, will premiere Friday on BBC kids channel CBBC.

Renowned music producer Magnus Fiennes, who has worked with international artists including Lenny Kravitz, Morcheeba, Spice Girls, Sugababes and Tom Jones, is one of the show's creators. The show's producers have generated over 50 original tracks and 800 minutes of musical score for the series, _a classic battle of good versus evil in which three mismatched members of a band (the eponymous Freefonix) fight to save the city of Los Bosmos.

R 'n' B superstar Jamelia plays the singing part of Sugar Che, mentor and funky fairy godmother to Freefonix. Justin Hawkins from The Darkness sings and lends his unique guitar-playing skills to Kurtz, lead singer of the evil Mantyz. Other guest stars who will appear over the course of the seriers include pop star Chico, cricketer Alistair Cook, actor Joseph Fiennes and musician Hayley Ecker.
