Bazillion Wins Gold National ADDY for Projection Mapping Spectacle

Multi-award winning animation and visual effects studio wins Gold National ADDY for 3D-animated architectural projection mapped video, ‘The Monument Comes Alive, celebrating Union Station Kansas City’s Centennial.

Multi-award winning animation and visual effects studio Bazillion Pictures won a Gold National ADDY at The American Advertising Federation (AAF) 2015 Award Show for their work on Union Station Kansas City “The Monument Comes Alive.”

The studio’s team of artists created the 3D animation, motion graphics and visual effects, and crafted the architectural projection mapped video that transformed the iconic building into a giant canvas for its centennial celebration. The multi-media visual experience tells Union Station’s story and shows how it adapted and persevered through a tumultuous century.

The AAF ADDY Awards is a three-tiered competition dedicated to recognizing the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising at the local, district and national levels. Bazillion Pictures’ received top honors for “The Monument Comes Alive” at all three events. 

The video won Gold awards in the “Out Of Home/Animated” and “Elements of Advertising/Visual” categories at the Kansas City AAF ADDYS.  

Union Station Kansas City “The Monument Comes Alive” also swept this year’s District 9 ADDY competition, garnering “Overall Best of Show” and a Gold ADDY for “Projection Mapping -- Elements of Advertising/Animation or Special Effects.”

Bazillion Pictures was also awarded a Gold ADDY from the Kansas City AAF in the “Advertising Industry/Self-Promotion-Digital Advertising” category for “Groundhog -- Undisclosed Weather Expert Tells All.” The latest installment of its digital promo series, the 2014 episode showcases animation and visual effects studio’s character animation skills.

The accolades from the ADDY Awards came on the heels of the “The Monument Comes Alive” receiving top honors at the TELLY Awards in the “Film/Video-Outdoor/Environmental-Non Traditional” category. Bazillion Pictures also produced a Behind-the-Scenes video that follows the making of “The Monument Comes Alive,” which won a Silver ADDY in the “Direct Marketing/Specialty Items” category.

Produced by Quixotic, “The Monument Comes Alive” was powered by twelve 20K lumen HD digital projectors that seamlessly mapped the video to the intricate architectural details of Union Station’s Beaux-Art façade.
