ASIFA-Hollywood’s Animation Expo begins this Friday

ASIFA-Hollywood will host its 6th Annual Animation Expo on March 5-6, 1999, in Glendale, California. The Expo is a two day animation industry trade show focusing on the exhibition of animation related products and services and the recruitment of related talent and personnel. The Expo includes numerous exhibitors, including Warner Bros., Nickelodeon, Hanna-Barbera and Alias|Wavefront, among others. Also offered are numerous seminars and panels, lead by industry insiders that discuss such topics as: Voice Acting, Writing for Animation, Understanding Animation Contracts, Storyboarding, the feature animation process, the television animation process, as well as advice on getting a job, portfolios, resumes, reels, agents and lawyers! This year's Expo will also include special screenings of classic animation at the historic Alex Theatre in Glendale. Dates and times are Friday, March 5, 9 am - 5 pm; Saturday, March 6, 9 am - 4 pm. During the expo, AWN's Dan Sarto will present "Trends for the New Millennium: Animation on the Internet." From streaming video to Macromedia Flash and beyond, a panel of leading animators and industry experts will discuss what lies in store for the creation and distribution of animation on the Internet. We'll discuss how the leading tools and techniques of today lay the groundwork and help shape the exciting possibilities of tomorrow. Panelists include Brad deGraf, Protozoa; Dave McFarland, DNA Studio; Shelley McIntyre, Real Networks and Buzz Potamkin, Project X. The panel will take place Saturday, March 6, 1999 at 1pm at the Glendale Community College, Room CM.121. AWN will also be exhibiting at the expo. Visitors are encouraged to stop by the AWN booth at the Glendale Civic Auditorium to meet AWN representatives.
