Negotiations between TAG and AMPTP have concluded unsuccessfully after a week of bargaining; additional negotiations scheduled for September to continue talks on a new three-year contract.
The Master Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiations between the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) and the 5,000 member The Animation Guild (TAG) have ended after a week of bargaining without a deal being reached. Additional negotiations dates have been scheduled for September.
TAG seeks, “contractual provisions that set fair wages and working conditions, prevent overwork, and safeguard workers from the impact of artificial intelligence,” a joint statement between multiple unions said earlier this month. “TAG negotiates independently of IATSE’s West Coast Studio Locals to address the unique priorities of animation workers, and they do so with our full collective backing.”
AI is especially pertinent to current negotiations, as 29 percent of animation jobs could be potentially affected by AI in the next three years, according to a recent media leader survey commissioned by TAG.
