Animated Harold And The Purple Crayon Coming To HBO

Sony Pictures Family Entertainment has begun production on HAROLD AND THE PURPLE CRAYON, a new animated series scheduled for a December 2001 premier on HBO Family. Academy Award nominee Sharon Stone is set to narrate the series. Based on the classic children's book by Crocket Johnson, the simple characters and situations will be illustrated using cel animation. The series will feature all new characters and situations, as well as those which have appeared in the first book. "HAROLD AND THE PURPLE CRAYON is a timeless story that we are excited to bring to life for HBO Family," said Bob Higgins, senior vice president of creative affairs at Sony Pictures Family Entertainment (SPFE). "This classic property will charm TV viewers for generations to come." Sony Pictures Family Entertainment Group produces traditional cel animation, CGI and live-action properties for television around the world. Current productions include JACKIE CHAN ADVENTURES, MAX STEEL and MEN IN BLACK: THE SERIES. The studio is also currently developing the animated series STUART LITTLE for HBO Family, and LENORE, an original Internet series with Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment (SPDE).
