Animated Comedy ‘The Jennie Show’ Returns for Season 2

In the new season, Jennie continues her exploration of identity and belonging, and encounters quirky cultural nuances that define the essence of being a true local; new weekly episodes air on TaiwanPlus.

Eight new episodes of The Jennie Show have begun airing on TaiwanPlus. In Season 2, Jennie continues her exploration of identity and belonging, and encounters quirky cultural nuances that define the essence of being a true local.

"After the warm response to Season 1, we were excited to continue Jennie's story in a way that connects with our audience's personal experiences - while keeping them laughing," said producer David Tang.

Creators Michael Lalo Wong and Jasmine Wu Hanley draw from their bicultural backgrounds in the U.S. and Taiwan to shape the show's core theme: exploring life in a new place while capturing the duality of being Taiwanese-American.

Departing from the topic-based style established in the first season, Season 2 introduces a linear narrative. Though episodes are just three minutes long, the creators layer complex themes and witty details into both the plot and animation. Subtle visual jokes, presented in Mandarin, offer familiarity for bilingual viewers.

"We encouraged the animation team to lean into their creativity, infusing humor into the background with playful details on street signs, tombstones, menus, and more," Wong explained.

The Jennie Show airs weekly episodes on TaiwanPlus now.
