Hoping that the worlds television audience pays more attention than the movie-going audience has, the folks controlling the rights to L. Ron Hubbard's novel BATTLEFIELD EARTH are bringing the epic science fiction adventure to TV. Hollywood-based Author Services, Inc. (ASI), international representatives for all L. Ron Hubbard literary and theatrical rights, has announced that Dan Haggerty, TVs GRIZZLY ADAMS, will be the voice of Terl, BATTLEFIELD EARTHs arch alien villain, in a 13-episode animated TV series being produced by Japan's Pine Com International for worldwide release beginning next year. The role of Terl, the Psychlo security chief of Earth, was played by John Travolta in last year's $73 million box office bomb, which grossed a little under $22 million in the U.S. As part of the licensing deal, Pine Com also received the rights for a multi-player, multi-platform online video game, a graphic comic book and a full-length animated feature. The BATTLEFIELD EARTH novel has sold more than 6,520,000 copies in 25 languages and appeared on over 500 bestseller lists since debuting in October 1982, generating more than $48,000,000 in revenue.
