Animasia Signs Co-Production Deal with Agogo Corp.

Malaysian Animasia Studio has partnered with Chinese studio Agogo Corporation to produce multiple animation projects.

The projects which are worth more than Euro 3 million, consist of servicing contracts, co-development of IPs and joint distribution for worldwide markets, are set to kick off middle of 2009 and will keep both studios busy for the next 24 months. The projects will be broadcasted by international networks and prominent European networks.

Established in Kuala Lumpur in 1996, Animasia has experience in both original IP creation and production servicing, has titles such as ABC MONSTERS, BOLA KAMPUNG and SUPA STRIKAS, which already hit markets across the Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.

Agogo is an animation studio based in Hong Kong, P.R.China founded by Steven Ching, a prominent and key player with 20 plus years of experience in the world of animation arena and have co-produced and serviced more than 50 international animation titles.

The Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) Chief Executive Officer Dato' Badlisham Ghazali said the partnership will bring mutual benefits to both the Chinese and Malaysian studio as it will be a platform to exchange production techniques and improve overall productivity for both the pipelines.

With a force of over 100 animators, Animasia's core strength is in 2D animation. Animasia is also targeting to employ and train more Malaysian talents to be able to handle the paperless technique and estimates that this partnership will be able to create and maintain between 80-100 jobs for the upcoming two years.
