Award-winning animation studio Animal Logic recently completed a spot for the Sydney Opera House promoting the third annual GRAPHIC Festival – a weekend of graphic storytelling, illustration, comics, animation and music. The GRAPHIC Festival takes place this year November 10 & 11, 2012.

As GRAPHIC’s creative partner for 2012, Animal Logic will also present a special panel discussing the art form’s origins and evolution, as well as what the future holds for animation. The panel will see Animal Logic artists Rob Coleman (Animation Director), Grant Freckelton (Art Director /Production Designer) and Aidan Sarsfield (CG Supervisor) explore the history of digital animation through the studio’s body of work.
With a catalogue that includes groundbreaking films such as Babe, The Matrix, 300, Happy Feet (Australia’s first digital animated feature film and winner of the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, in 2007), and most recently LEGO Star Wars: The Padawan Menace -- this intimate discussion with Animal Logic’s key creative’s will offer insight into this pioneering studio.
The Sydney Opera House announced the return of the GRAPHIC global animation competition earlier this summer, held as part of the GRAPHIC festival of storytelling, animation and music. The competition is open to illustrators, animators and storytellers of all levels – from established artists to up-and-coming talent – from anywhere in the world:
First prize for Best Animated Short is a trip to Sydney to attend GRAPHIC festival at Sydney Opera House, $10 000 [AUD] and the winning entry will be screened at the GRAPHIC opening night event. There will be a $5000[AUD] prize for Best Animation Craft, as well as the ANIMAL LOGIC People’s Choice award of $5000 [AUD].
