The ‘Charm City Kings’ director will team with ‘Marvel’s the Defenders’ writer Marco Ramirez to create a fresh take separate from the Bay-verse and ‘Bumblebee.’
The Autobots are rolling out again! This time, Paramount Pictures and Hasbro’s eOne have called upon Angel Manuel Soto (Charm City Kings) to direct, and Marco Ramirez (Marvel’s The Defenders) to pen, a standalone Transformers film. We last caught a glimpse of the sentient robotic franchise with Bumblebee, starring everyone’s favorite big yellow bot with a heart of tungsten. The new film will be separate from the largely successful Transformers ‘Bay-verse’ series of the early 2000s.
Soto and Ramirez’s standalone will mark the third Transformers project rumored to be in development. Lorenzo di Bonaventura has teased a Bumblebee sequel, while working title Transformers: Beast Alliance, helmed by Steven Caple Jr (Creed 2), is said to feature Autobots that can transform into robotic animals such as Cheetor (Cheetah), Optimus Primal (Gorilla), and Rhinox (Rhinoceros). This film will be set in the Transformers Bay-verse, however, with the Beast portion of the plot yet to be officially confirmed.
Details of all three projects are still very much under wraps and seem to be in early stages of development. Which film are you most excited about? Either way, one thing is for sure: forget Godzilla vs. Kong. It’s all about Kong vs. Optimus Primal.
