In the upcoming sequel, it’s Toy meets Tech when Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the gang’s jobs get exponentially harder as they go head-to-head with this all-new threat to playtime.
After 30 years of fun, Woody and Buzz are back for another adventure. Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story franchise veteran and 2X Oscar winner Andrew Stanton took the stage at the recent D23 festivities to announce he will direct and pen the upcoming installment, Toy Story 5. Stanton also spoke with fans and offered a few clues about the new story.

In the upcoming film, it’s Toy meets Tech when Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the gang’s jobs get exponentially harder as they go head-to-head with this all-new threat to playtime.
Tim Allen confirmed he would return to the franchise earlier this year on an episode of The Tonight Show, but Tom Hanks has not yet officially boarded. Blake Clark, the voice of Slinky Dog, also returns.
McKenna Harris co-directs, while Jessica Choi produces.
Toy Story 5 opens in theaters June 19, 2026.
