Al Jazeera Children’s Channel to Offer Disney Content

Al Jazeera Children’s Channel acquires the rights to a selection of Disney’s popular kids and family content.

Doha, Qatar -- Al Jazeera Children’s Channel (JCC) announced a new free TV agreement with Disney, Middle East and North Africa (MENA).  This is in line with the Company’s new content strategy and follows JCC’s recent children’s programming agreement with BBC Worldwide.

JCC, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, has acquired the rights to a selection of Disney’s most popular kids and family content, including Disney and Disney/Pixar movies as well as Disney Channels’ live action and animated series. The Disney films and TV shows that JCC will be airing will offer audiences in the Middle East and North Africa a wide range of exciting entertainment.

Through this deal, JCC will telecast popular acclaimed television shows like Phineas and Ferb; an animated comedy musical series, and Kim Possible; an animated television series about a teenage crime fighter. JCC will also feature the science based television series Lilo and Stitch and Zeke and Luther, a popular sitcom about two friends who have their dreams set on being the world’s greatest skateboarders. Baraem TV, JCC’s preschoolers channel will feature popular titles like Handy Manny, Little Einsteins, and Jojo’s Circus.

JCC’s Board Member, Acting Executive General Manager, Haya bint Khalifa Al Nassr said, “Through this agreement, we at JCC look forward to enriching the first Arab children’s channel with a wide range of entertaining shows for our audience. In line with our child-centric strategy, we will continue to address the needs of Arab children and households by creating or acquiring content that is entertaining, culturally appropriate and supports their learning and development.

 “This deal is the start of the exciting content transformation, considering the aspirations, culture, and identity of our Arab audience. We do hope our new content would appeal our audiences." Al Nassr added.

JCC will also feature popular animated films from Disney including A Bug’s Life, Toy Story, Cars and Tangled among many others.

All programs will be dubbed into classical Arabic and will roll out in the coming months.
