Aardman Rights Taking Blue-Zoo’s ‘Digby Dragon’ to MIPCOM 2016

Aardman Rights and Brand Development team seeking international broadcast partners for CG-animated preschool series produced by Fizzy Productions and airing on Nick Jr. in the U.K.

LONDON -- multi-BAFTA winning animation production company Blue-Zoo has announced that the chart-topping children’s animation, Digby Dragon, will be heading to MIPCOM with the Aardman Rights and Brand Development team. Aardman has already sold the new preschool animation, produced by Fizzy Productions, to over 15 territories and will look to secure more international partners at MIPCOM 2016.

The series launched in July 2016 on Nick Jr. (U.K.) as the top weekday premiere of all time for live viewing and was the top weekday show on Nick Jr. for that month. The CGI animation is a lovable action-packed comedy series which follows Digby, an adventurous young dragon who lives in Applecross Wood with his best friends Grumpy Goblin, Fizzy the fairy and Chips the squirrel. Digby is an original show, based on illustrations from Sally Hunter, better known as the creator of Humphrey’s Corner. Digby Dragon’s beautiful styling has been created locally at Blue-Zoo's London studio.

Alison Taylor, Head of Sales and Acquisitions, Aardman, says “We are delighted to have secured such great partners for Digby Dragon across the globe and we hope to finalise even more licenses on this wonderful series at MIPCOM, where we will be sharing the brilliant UK ratings on Nick Jr. with new and existing partners.”

“Digby and his friends have quickly become a much-loved animation for pre-schoolers following its success on Nick Jr.,” comments Adam Shaw, Series Producer & Director, Blue-Zoo. “We are thrilled Digby will be expanding his (dinosaur) footprint and will be rolling-out across another 15 territories in the next six months across the globe. Aardman has done an incredible job in sharing this stylish animation with the world so we are excited to see where else they can take it at MIPCOM.”
