Aleksandra Korejwo's Artwork Is Now For Sale

The remaining artworks of Polish animator and director Aleksandra Korejwo are now for sale. These pastels are the storyboards Aleksandra created for her upcoming short animated film and were recently featured at an exhibition and silent auction of Aleksandra's work at The Director's Guild, which was the first exhibit of her work in the United States. Disney Provides The Ultimate Ride

Disney Interactive has launched its premiere title under the Disney Imagineering brand, ULITMATE RIDE, a roller coaster design game. The photo-realistic, real-time, 3-D action roller coaster game allows gamers aged nine and up to imagine, build, customize, test and ride various coaster designs. ULTIMATE RIDE lets players pick from three types of tracks, classic wood, hanging or top-track, or modern steel to design with and ride. Coasters are built within four unique environments: mountain, outer space, underground cavern and engineering grid.

Blur Brings Sci Fi’s Soulkeeper To Life

Blur Studio designed and produced more than 80 visual effects ranging from digital matte paintings to a fully rendered 3D creature for the new Sci Fi Channel series SOULKEEPER. One of the more challenging effects for the studio was a 10-foot reptilian creature with a particularly nasty disposition that battles the shows hero. A full-size animatronic was used during the production, but as it couldn't walk, computer graphics were relied on for the moving shots.

Peppermint Signs Fresh Deals

German distributor peppermint and U.S. animation studio Wild Brain have entered into a strategic partnership for Asia and the U.S. Under the terms of the deal, peppermint will distribute Wild Brain's Flash animation catalogue throughout Asia, while Wild Brain will represent peppermints animation catalogue under the pepperkids label for TV distribution, home video and DVD, licensing, publishing and merchandising throughout the U.S.

Dic Partners With Dentsu, Creates T.I.M.E.

DIC Entertainment and Japans Dentsu have formed a strategic alliance under which Dentsu will co-produce and handle Japanese and Asian distribution of DICs new animated series ALIENATORS: EVOLUTION CONTINUES. Dentsu will also be responsible for television, home video distribution and licensing for DICs MADELINE in Japan. DIC has also joined forces with U.K.-based media/marketing outfit Universal McCann and Cereal Partners Worldwide to form The International Media Exchange (TIME).

MIPCOM Deals In Brief

Peppers Ghost Productions CGI-animated series TINY PLANETS has been licensed to Germanys Super RTL network and ITV1 in the U.K. The show recently received two BAFTA Interactive awards nominations and is scheduled to debut in the U.K. and Germany in the first quarter 2002.

French childrens cable and a satellite channel Canal J has partnered with Nickelodeon U.K., Spain, Australia and Latin America and acquired Japanese anime series YU-GIOH, which will be broadcast in France in spring 2002.

Sega And THQ Announce Multi-Title Co-Publishing Agreement

THQ Inc. and Sega Corporation have entered into an exclusive, multi-title co-publishing agreement under which THQ will co-publish 16 Game Boy Advance titles featuring Sega brands in North America through 2003. The launch will begin with six titles released through March 2002. The agreement provides Sega with greater exposure on the Game Boy Advance platform as it transitions exclusively to software publishing and provides THQ with content to help solidify its position as a leading independent Game Boy Advance publisher.

On Wednesday, October 17th 2001, The Illinois Institute of Art-Schaumburg will host the second annual ARTimation Festival at the AMC Barrington 30 Theatres, 175 Studio Drive from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. There will be two theatres devoted to the showing of Animation and Multimedia programs.

ASIFA-San Francisco presents an evening with ILM Director Tom Bertino. Tom is currently working as animation director for DreamWorks "The Time Machine" He joined ILM in 1986 and has worked on over 40 features. Tom's experimental digital animated 35mm short "Work In Progress" will be screened and he will discuss his latest projects. Sally Cruickshank's "Make Me Psychic" will also be shown. Tom did ink and paint on this film and it was his first professional job.
