I keep hearing that different studios work with different animation software. So get as good as you can be on a number of different programs.
do not try to shortcut based on software. pick one software and become skilled in it. max, maya, c4d. they all do the same thing. each has a completely different interface and workflow. but they all do the same thing
I retrack my post, spreading your self over a number of platform would be a bad idea. Get really good with the program you have now or will have.
