Stop-Motion Animation (Clay-Animation)

Hey there,

I recently decided to try my hand at some Clay-Animation.
You can check out my first attempt here;

It's pretty short. Mainly trying to increase my knowledge bank before i undertake larger projects.
All feedback appreciated.

Cheers.

I gotto say this is very, very inspiring...you marched on ahead and DID it. It’s inspiring because it looks like this is done with very, very little to no money and it represents what is possible.

I’m a bit of a enigma because I keep doing 3d animations...but I keep blurting out about how I want to do stop motion...to me stop motion is very special because the light is real….and if you need say something like water in the scene...there is no technical problem spraying some water on the miniature set…there are also no technical problems with regards to getting the shadows realistic.

When I stop and think about it the computer seems to have hypnotised me...but my specialist area in my final year at art college was 3d animation and the 3d side of things does have a way of hypnotising me and great appeal because of the shear fact that you can do anything with the camera and model any shape you want with regards to conceptual interior and exterior design. But I always make a 180 degree turn and say to myself that the stop motion would get me far more detail and the lighting quality I want. Frustrating.

I appreciate the feedback.

You're right in assuming it was done with no money. Haha.
Even the Clay i got for free.

I was doing a different side of Visual Arts also, but after seeing Tool's music video's and more that adopt Stop-Mo i really wanted to give it a go.

So basically, I begun a couple weeks ago with that test short posted. And i hope to continue improving from here.

I'd totally recommend for you to give it a go as well!
Let me know if you ever plan to.

stop motion stuff has a really interesting quality to it even when the motion isn't smooth, when you get glitches, it some how seems too add to the character of the animation, in a way that just doesn't happen with computer animation.

Nice work it's nice to see some stop motion on here for a change.

Thanks for the encouragement.

I've started building 'rigs' to help perform more complex actions for my next project!
