Children's Sci-Fi Picture Book

One of the many projects that is going on over here. I’ve not gone near this in quite a while though...I have terrible doubt problems (and yet, seem to show things in forums) (that’s a bit sort of contradictory isn’t it?)...mind you there’s usually lots of other problems going on too.

It started off in 3D...but I have this continuing conflict in my head about how 3D is very cold, clinical and perfect looking...it’s *too* perfect looking and something is lost for me. So I eventually did one drawing, and I wasn't really happy with the drawing either, and then never went back to the project.

I think I will go back to it one day though because these don’t look too bad now that there’s a bit of distance between me and the project...I mean I wouldn’t be putting these up on here if I wasn’t just over 60% happy with them would I?

Here’s the drawing that I eventually did (it's usually the other way round, that people do a drawing first and then move into 3D) and wasn't happy about...main reasons for not being happy about it were that I wanted this to be the final thing....that’s perhaps part of my problem that I'm impatient and want results that I can say are final, and ready for print for the publishers. I think the problem is that I have a chronic illness and my energy gets to very low levels quite fast...so things are a bit messed up in that regard.

Its also silly to think that you will get to the final thing just like that...things don’t happen like that...you have to redo things.

michael,
i really like the atmosphere and tone of the CG shots. i like the direction you're headed with the drawing too. i would like to see some more stuff from this project. are you still working on it?

i know exactly what you mean about having a million projects, and letting some of them fade away.

also, you're exactly right about redos. sometimes i have to remind myself that i can't do a second and third draft of something until i've done the firt draft.

anyway, good stuff here. post more if you've got more.

Thanks for the kind words daspetey.

It’s unfortunately not moved much beyond this point at all. It’s a shame really...the problem is at times I have huge frustration deciding on which project to focus on….and I decided to focus on While They Slept...but even there I drifted again and went onto yet another project that I’ve not got a title for yet…I then managed to go back onto While They Slept and have made a bit of progress there.
