marker recommendation

I am sick of prismacolor markers, they bleed through everything, they smell like russian vodka and they're too opaque to blend with.

I want some "water color looking" markers, do you guys have any recommendations?

What's wrong with Russian vodka? :D

Have you tried Copic?

haha, russian vodka is great, just not for markers.

I forgot about copics, how are they? I always thought they were just cheap prismacolor knockoffs? was I wrong???

If you want something to look like watercolor, the best thing is to just use watercolor

Ha, I knew somebody was going to say that eventually. I actually enjoy watercolor a lot, especially the ones that come in those little tubes, but it's not very portable where I can just whip it out while riding on the bus. You've peaked my interest in colored drawing ink though, do they come in a wide variety of colors, and can you mix colors like with paint?

they can be mixed more easily and precisely than paint, because one can use dropper bottles

That is really cool, because I have a hard time controlling the quantity of paint required to reproduce certain colors.

I dug around yesterday and found my old crayola watercolor cakes from highschool. They actually look surprisingly good and gave me the look I wanted from my markers. I had been using tube watercolors for so long, I forgot how convenient those little cakes are.

When I used Prismacolor markers I loved them. I would ink my drawing then color the photocopy. I found for some reason they didn't bleed as much on photocopied paper. Another marker I used with Prismacolor was Panatone. Don't know if they still make it.
