WIP - Melville's take on the 'I want you!' Uncle Sam poster

Okay...started this back in June, but kinda got fed-up and overcome with laziness and all that. Decided to pick it up again yesterday - and I've done more in two days than over the few weeks when I first started.

Be gentle, but honest...(er...it is okay to post the image like this, right? That can be everyone's first comment Just that links seem less...professional. It's better if you don't have to click on a link and be taken somewhere else to see the image).

Not quite finished, want to add fur spikes to the rest of his body. I'm not opting for light and shadow...going a bit more stylistic (less than the other art of Melville I've worked on - this one hasn't been left as a sketch, I've *attemped* to clean the lines up). Skipped the eyebrows because in my non-sketchy attempts, they just didn't add much to him. It didn't aid his expression at all (looked more like Spock...LOL - 'Melville - schizophrenic, ex-laboratory, Vulcan-opossum hybrid')

I originally came up with Melville in my last semester at university, and decided to expand his repartee a little...

Cliche idea, practice your drawing skills, find your own voice(s.a. style of the eyes could be a little less anime, body could be a little more anatomical) Practice drawing a wide variety of things, even things you don't think you'll ever need to draw. Get that under your belt then research different styles and develop one uniquely your own. Don't give up, but don't get complacent either, if you're satisfied with where you're at, you'll never get any better. ;)

I never intended the eyes to be anime style ;). I like this character with where he's at - at the moment - but you can bet if I did him again, there might be something slightly different, more improved.

Thanks for the comments, I'll keep them in mind.
