how do you write a press release for animation?

Hi, Its been recommended that I send a press release for my film that is being showin in a festival. Does anyone have any advice on writing a press release for a film being shown in a festival?

(The Spirit Child, in the animation category in the WT Os international film festival)

(I wasn't sure where to put this, its also in the business of animation forum, sorry)

If you go to a movie's official site, you can read its press release in the "about," "news," or "presskit" section.

Here, for example, is the press release for Harvey Krumpet:

You can also go to www.rottentomatoes.com and read a studio's press release in the "about" or "synopsis" section of a movie.

Harvey that is fantastic, thank you so much!

the Harvie Krumpet is a perfect example I can follow! If only I could put 'winner of the annecy film festival'! hehe
would you say that page 2 was the actual press release bit? I don't think they want filmography, statements etc.

Thats so helpful! :)

The New Rules of Press Releases

When writing a press release, don't write it under the old rules. That is, only for journalists.

The new rules of press releases mean you can now write them for consumers as well as journalists. That is, for people who will be coming to the festival or simply want to know more about the movie. Under the new rules you can:

--Include a video clip in the release

--Include several links back to your website

--Optimize the release for the search engines. That means including relevant keywords in the headline, subhead and the body of the release.

There's a free article on this topic at my website at http://tinyurl.com/y8wgat and you can also sign up for a free 89-tutorial I've created on how to write direct-to-consumer press releases that also attract journalists.
