Tavern Mega Tournament Contest!

"Alright, time for the biggest competition we have had yet at the tavern. And beyond that, the biggest prizes.

Here is the deal. This is going to be a single elimination one-on-one tournament, set up much like the World Cup. Each tournament going on will be run by the 7 members of the Sketch Tavern crew, from here on refered to as "The Bosses."

Each tournament will be a travel through time, with each tier progressing forward in time. Each of the one on one battles will then be one of 7 topics from that time period, as chosen by the Boss of the tournament.

The seven categories are:
People/ Places
Arts/Entertainment
History
Science/Nature
Sports/Liesure
Wildcard

Then, when the victor of the tournament has beaten everyone else, they will have their boss battle, before moving onto the finals. The boss battle is just for fun however, and a defeat there does not keep you from entering the finals. We want no more than 16 people per tournament, so there will be multiple tourneys like this going on at the same time. The winners of each tourney will then face off in the finals.

Obviously, the number of time periods and which century you will face the boss will vary depending on the number of combatents. These are just all of the possible decades we can use, as well as the ones we are all based on in our boss form. We will not necessarily have a by, or free tier, so don't think that this bracket is 100% truth. Just a good idea.

Yes, you are going to have to reference a lot. Yes, you are going to have to draw things you have never drawn before. Yes, this is going to push you further than you have often been pushed. So why would you do this, other than bragging rights as the top artist at the tavern.

Well how about a FREE PASS to E3! And beyond that, a free place to stay while you are in Los Angeles!

That's right, the grand prize is a free pass into the largest videogame and electronics show, taking place this May! Play the new systems, see unrealesed games, get swag you can't get anywhere else, and more!

Now, you will have to cover your way out to Los Angeles, but you can get a plane ticket for around $200 or less, and with E3 still 3 months away, you have more than enough time to save, bribe, what have you. Then, all you have to worry about is whatever else money you will need for spending and food, cause lodging is on us.

Now, if that wasnt enough, the top prize winner gets themselves drawn megaman style by me, then inked and colored by Light Bomb Mike, in the same style of the boss pictures, as represented by Tim's above. We will then make a one of a kind 11x17 print of all 8 mega characters for you to hang proudly, as the winner of our mega time tournament.

Now, if for whatever reason the top winner can't attend, then the prize will go down the line in order of placement. Also, all semi-finalists and finalists will receive free prints of the boss characters, sketchbooks, etc... you know, the normal prizes we give out.

So now that you are fully excited, let's go over THE RULES:

1. Sign up by replying right here. Sign-ups will last for ONE WEEK as of this posting. At that time, this thread will be locked up from further entries.
2. The tournament will be set-up by the bosses. So the person who signed up right before or after you will not be the first person you face. We will try to make this as balanced as possible.
3. Once you have been given your topic, you have ONE WEEK to get your entry done from the time your battle was announced.
4. You must Private Message the Boss of your tournament your piece. DO NOT post it in your battle thread. This is to keep the procrastinators from seeing what their competition is.
5. The winners of each competition will be decided by all 7 bosses. This is to keep people from getting random votes from friends... it is an art competition, not a popularity contest.
6. By signing up, you realize it is NOT an all expenses paid trip to E3 and Los Angeles. You do have to cover travel and food.

And there you have it! Get ready, cause it is gonna be a long, tough road to get that pass, but think of how sweet it will be when you have that Revolution or PS3 controller in your hand!"
