Long time listener, first time caller..
We've been asked to do many animations for 3G cell phone format, 24fps. Client wants to know what we charge per second of animation.
There are potentially thousands of animations including character animation, scene and camera animations, as well as simple facial rig animations for close-ups.
Many of the moves can be animated in AE, others in Maya. They may be as simple as a character leaping out and saying a birthday greeting, or a 30 sec animation of a character in a scene with multiple cuts and camera moves.
Im pretty comfortable assigning a budget for film animation, but for this format, im a newbie.
Does anyone have an idea what a competetive per second rate to charge for this format?
Even broadcast rates would help.

there is no formula. since its bound to be much shorter you could just take a per hour calculation of your time and how much it took you to create something and work with that.
