A collection of my animations

Hi, this is my first time posting on this site... I'm a 17 year old high schooler looking for some feed back on the animations I have done. Most of them are just experiments or exercises. All of them were done in Flash. The first ones were done i guess about a year or so ago.

Here is the site: http://internalcow.tripod.com/

Oh and I also have a drawing section. Most of the drawings were done on groupboard ( www.groupboard.com ), but at the bottom I have a few pages from a sketchbook.

Thanks for the look :)

you've got so many responses

You're definitely a traditional animator. I love that you animate things out of frame...like the skydiving skit and the jet is hand drawn, not tweened, out of frame.

My fav of the ones I saw was the CATAPULT. That circular shadow on the house
BRILLIANT!

a close runner up was the SWIMMING
I like the profile view
I like the acting that came with that deep deep swim to open the hatch, and all the while we see the water is going down.

Third place is the MORPH
man into toaster. I love morphing anything.

Catapult I liked the best because in animation I've never see treatment of color and shadow right before the wreckage. The timing is really good too.

so many comments
mine may well be lost
I didn't read any of the other comments, so this may be redundant. You're doing so much to begin with, so for me to say anything is pointless because I don't have much to compare to.

Gravity is sacred.
make sure you can feel everything that you're animating as if it were real. I feel this in many of your animations but others feel too soft. I don't want to pick em out. Overall you did a great job with this stuff.

it makes me feel good that the pencil pushers are animating.
keep it up:)

Ahhhh yeah action. My favorite. It's looking good so far. Just don't forget ur secondary action on the body when it falls to give it more weight. Also i wounder what it would look like with his reaction being a bit more exagarated. On the atacker u should make his bouce of the body much faster and u can then slow it down as he lands on his last pose.

Looking forward to seeing what else u do with this or anyothers that ur working on.:D

Great stuff Internal. Your work keeps getting better and better with each new post. I really like your lighting walk. That came out quite nice. I like how the lighting came out. It's alittle scratchy but that just matches the line quality on your animation.

The ninja animaiton is looking nice. There is a bit of a pause right befor he falls though which is looking alittle weird. He's a big guy being hit by a smaller guy so he's going to ease out of his first golden pose. Think of his chest as the ball, and keep an eye on that for the spacing. His chest is will push forward while his head, arms and hips will drag behind. His chest will start to speed up as he falls and his arms and head will start to reverse their action and come forward. But even with all the opposite action going on with arms head and hips, his chest should always keep moving and building up speed till it impacts the ground.

The back hand spring out is very nice. It could be a touch faster and it squashes too low for my taste, but thats more of a personal oppinion.

Keep up the great work!

Oh, can you remind me again, are you in school or working or teaching yourself?

Mahalo,
the Ape

...we must all face a choice, between what is right... and what is easy."

Thanks for the crit Ape, I agree with you on the fall, but im sick of working on this one so I'll probably start another animation with similar variables.

Oh and I'm in my last year of highschool.

Very nice work, do you work with building your key poses and then filling in?

Yup... here are the key poses for my next attempt :)

Its so nice

The animations are very nice. I really liked it. All your animations are having a common style and look & feel. Keep doing more stuffs and don't forget to share with us.

I think this one came out a lot better than my last.

When the orange guy lands it looks a little slow; I should have given him a bounce or something.

Its nice

Hi,

The animations are very nice... Expecting more stuffs like this... keep it up..

Cool stuff as always, Cow. I agree with Scattered on this. Just a tweak of the timing between when his arms are moving and when his body is moving. Offseting action and reaction, even by a couple frames, can make a huge difference in the feel of the piece. Start by making it as extreme as possible so that it looks WAY over exagerrated and then take it back a notch and you'll probably find that the swimming action is much more solid. On the swim down, the second pull forward is much closer than the others.

Minor stuff, but now you're getting into the detail of the work. That's a great place to be! Keep it up.

wow you are really good

Whoohoo! Cool.
I love your style, just wanna know how you do it...

How do you make the line tests, cause I gotta learn it...

meh.
That says it all :)

Thanks SereneWorx, I highly recommend buying the book The Animator's Survival Kit.

I second that! Almost intimidating with how much info is in this book.

http://img296.imageshack.us/my.php?image=splash8ic.swf splash (needs work)

http://img270.imageshack.us/img270/8715/walkingman7v28mf.swf another walk cycle a 24 fps.
http://img455.imageshack.us/my.php?image=walkingman71rt.swf and the same walk cycle at 12 fps.
(there are a few more frames in the 24 fps walkcycle cause at some points it moved to fast)

enjoy :)

I'm pretty happy the way it looks. Might speed it up a bit.

Comments highly appreciated. :o

Cool i like how very clear the action is and how u used elemnts to discribe that he had a thought. Somtimes we can get too carried away with the spiffyness of the shot and forget the main action. I do think that the one thing that is missing is slow in's and slow outs in some parts. but that is all, that is if u were planning on taking it farther.:D

Great work and keep it up, always looking.

Thanks for the feedback damage, I decided to take your advice and add some easing in and out. I think it looks a lot better now, thanks.

Well done looks awsome. Cut Print!:D

messing around with lighting. I like the walk cycle but the lighting looks kinda messy.
