Art Institute reputation?

He knows of expense. Went to Houston AI for a year awhile ago. Advice? He is a serious one-of-a-kind artist but afraid of traditional educational institutions (he's way out there). We need serious information.

You lost me, your post is very cryptic.

But I think you are asking if AI is worth the money and all I have to say is in most cases the quick fix isn't going to get you where you want to go. And they feed upon those who feel they don't fit into a "normal" school.

If he's as "out there" as you say tell him to go visit an actual art school campus and he will some find he's maybe not as out there as he thinks. You see all types on an art school campus and no one blinks an eye.

My experience

Hello.

My experience from visiting several schools is that the art institutes are so very differetr from each other. They are very individual - each one kind of goes their own way. Some I could reccomend some I would not.

Thanks.

Thanks Gavin, etal. If I'm computer lit, here....

Sorry so cryptic. His personality is comfortable and very smart. He doesn't want regular study. He's just very talented. Wish I could find someone to believe how different this kid is. Thanks for the AI input.

Even the talented need some structure and goals that help them grow even more talented.

A part of growing up in realizing you can't always have it your way and sometimes you need to give a little bit and go with the flow to get what you really want. I've seen very talented people not get jobs because they don't want to work with a group or a system because they think they know everything...but I digress.

What he might need to do is to go talk to recruiters, show his work and let them tell him if he's as talented as he needs to be. If he is that talentd they will hire him if not they can suggest where he could go to get so talented that they will hire him.

Why would anyone "afraid" of a tradtional educational insitution be interested in going to a educational institution in the first place???

Like college, university, a trade school or art college, you pays your money you get subjected to a environment of instruction, study and evaluation--about as "traditional" as it gets.
Those disciplines still get aimed at you regardless of where you go.

If you want a free-form learning environment without out the constraints of deadlines, personalities or instructional doctrines, then the glowing box in front of you and/or the plethora of books available along with some good-old fashion time and intiative can make for a "better" schooling.
