Realism or believability, what do you prefer?

Thursday’s live discussion topic –
Realism or believability, what do you prefer?

The more realistic the character you are animating (whether 2D, 3D or stop motion) the more an audience expects that character to move in a realistic way. Realistic in such a way that even the best animator could not make the animation convincing enough. Consequently the character seems less believable.
I've always found that the more stylised a character is the more an audience is prepared to accept the way it moves and consequently finds it more believable.

We want to know what you think!
