8th Milano Film Festival

This international film competition is open to short and feature films of any genre and format that have been produced in the years 2002 and 2003. The directors will be in the cinema while their films will be presented without being divided in categories. The festival will give filmmakers a chance to network and give students a chance to learn from a global talent pool. Darryl's Hard Liquor and P_rn Film Festival is a one-night gala screening and dress-up party featuring short films about sex by international filmmakers, comedians, artists and animators. The 90-minute screening will begin at 9:00 pm with the doors opening at 8:00 pm. Attendees must be 19 years of age or older. There will be sexy snacks, a post show party and other surprises. World 3D Film Expo

SabuCat Productions will present the largest 3D tribute show ever at the Egyptian Theatre (6712 Hollywood Boulevard). The 10-day festival, which celebrates the golden era of 3D filmmaking, will include many of the best known 3D titles of the 1950's, such as BEANY & CECIL, HOUSE OF WAX, KISS ME KATE and CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON, but will also offer fans of the format an opportunity to see some of the more obscure 3D movies. ASIFA-Hollywood will examine the history of stop-motion animation at the American Film Institute in the Ted Ashley Screening Room on Saturday, August 23, 2003 at 3 pm. From Jasper to Gumby, some obscure examples will include works from animators George Pal, Frank Tashlin, Charles Bowers, Lou Bunin, Ray Harryhausen, Art Clokey, John Burton and many others. The two-week film school-style camp will involve students in the total process of creating a short film as a group. Drawing from more than two decades of experience in the animation industry, Vinton will join the camp as part of the Film Camp's lectures series and provide students with insight from past projects such as the famous California Raisins and THE PJ'S.

L.A.SIGGRAPH will delve into THE MATRIX RELOADED and the ENTER THE MATRIX video game on June 17, 2003, 7:30 pm at Covel Commons on the UCLA Campus in Westwood. VFX supervisors John "DJ" Des Jardin and Dan Glass from EON Entertainment will discuss their work on the latest MATRIX sequel, and producer Rosanna Sun of EON and Shiny Entertainment president, David Perry, will discuss the video game, ENTER THE MATRIX.
