Games industry educational provider TwelveJ announced Pixar Artist Jeremy Vickery as guest lecturer for its next event entitled "Digital Lighting & Practical Colour."

Jeremy Vickery worked at Pixar on films including THE INCREDIBLES, CARS, RATATOUILLE and WALL-E. Vickery will share some of the secrets, techniques and experiences from over a decade spent in creating 3D modeling textures and lighting, film effects, matte painting and concept art.

The event will also feature speakers from Geomerics discussing how Vickery's ideas can be practically implemented in games.

The Broadcast India Show is a global megamart for broadcast-related industries featuring everything to do with entertainment, from content creation to its delivery, under one roof. After the success of its 17th consecutive exhibition and symposium, the event is expected to draw more than 22,000 attendees, with more than 450 companies from 31 countries.

The Art Directors Guild (ADG) and the University Art Museum (UAM) of California State University, Long Beach will host an innovative two-day conference called 5D - The Future of Immersive Design. It will be the first-ever conference dealing with the convergence of visual storytelling and design technology across all narrative media and will take place October 4-5. 5D will explore the new role of design in these five dimensions, thus the name 5D: Film, TV, Animation, Interactive, and Environment. The venue for the conference will be the Carpenter Performing Arts Center at CSU, Long Beach.

Join Gnomon School of Visual Effects, the VES and the Maya User Group for this exceptionally full evening with special guests from Digital Domain and Rhythm & Hues Studios showing how they created the stunning effects and imagery in THE MUMMY: TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR using Maya and other tools.

The event will be at Gnomon from 6-9 p.m. on October 2.

The closing event of this year's eDIT 11 Filmmaker's Festival is a screening of Disney-Pixar's WALL-E. The screening, sponsored by BVI/Germany, will be on September 30 at 7 p.m. at the festival.

On Monday, September 29, WALL-E editor Stephen Schaffer will talk about editing for animated films and Director of Editorial and Post Production for Pixar Animation Studios, Bill Kinder will discuss postproduction in animation.

This year, the //ADAPT 2008 CONFERENCE will be held in Montreal's historic Pepsi Forum / AMC Theater, former home of the legendary Montreal Canadiens hockey team.

Advanced Digital Art Production Techniques or //ADAPT for short, will feature more than 40 of the best digital art masters, from blockbuster films, Visual FX and video game studios.

Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH, Oregon and Southwest Washington's local SIGGRAPH chapter, today announced that renowned visual consultant Bruce Block will address the Portland community regarding his unique aesthetic theories behind visual structure and style. His lecture, based on his book, THE VISUAL STORY, will showcase intriguing visual examples of how these theories may be used within the direct planning and production of new projects, bridging the gap between theory and practice. The event will take place at the University of Oregon Portland Programs Center on Wednesday, September 10 at 6 p.m.

In the second installment on an ongoing series inviting filmmakers and artists to comment live on their film while it is shown, Jon Favreau will dissect his box office success IRON MAN at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, California at 7:30 p.m. on September 6.

IFA is one of the largest consumer electronics trade shows in the world. It combines innovation and the technology of tomorrow with business sales and entertainment. According to published statistics, more than 1,200 companies from 32 countries exhibited at IFA 2007, covering a net space of more than 103,000 square meters. More than 6,600 press attended IFA 2007, including 1,371 international journalists from 62 countries. Sales at the 2007 show totaled 2.75 billion Euros. The number of trade visitors attending the show in 2007 jumped 7.5% to 101,358.

The 2007 Best Picture nominee THERE WILL BE BLOOD will screen on Monday, August 25, at 7:30 p.m. at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater as the final feature in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' "Great To Be Nominated" series. Daniel Day-Lewis's powerful, Oscar-winning performance as a misanthropic oil man in the early years of the 20th century dominates Paul Thomas Anderson's unsettling adaptation of Upton Sinclair's novel OIL!.
