Finding and Keeping a Job in Today's Visual Effects Industry

The Visual Effects Society (VES) will hold a special one-day event, "Finding and Keeping a Job in Today's Visual Effects Industry," on May 17, 2003 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Los Angeles Film School in Hollywood. The day will feature four panel sessions to address employment issues specific to a particular segment of the visual effects industry: o Visual Effects for Feature Films hosted by Sony Pictures Imageworks o Computer Animated Feature Films hosted by DreamWorks o Visual Effects in the Game Industry hosted by Electronic Arts

Following the success of the AEAF Awards in Sydney last December, organizers of the Australian Effects & Animation Festival (AEAF) have introduced a Short Film Festival to the Melbourne event (May 12-13) at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, Federation Square, Melbourne. The shorts festival will showcase some of the best digital and animated material submitted to the AEAF Awards 2002, as well as some new material that has been submitted solely for the purpose of screening in Melbourne.

36th Annual WorldFest-Houston Intl Film/Video Festival

Founded in August 1961, WorldFest is the 3rd oldest competitive International film festival in North America. We gave first honors and awards to Spielberg, George Lucas, Randall Kleiser, Ridley Scott, Ang Lee, The Coen Brothers, Robert Rodriguez and many more. We screen just 55 new features and around 100 new shorts, in 35mm and digital video DLP projection in a large commercial theatre complex. Taiwan International Animation Festival

Taiwan International Animation Festival (TIAF) is the first festival of its kind in Taiwan. TIAF is a non-competitive festival open to all animated films and makes no distinction between formats, running time or technique. No entry fee is required.

TIAF is organized by Chinese Taipei Film Archive, a non-profit association that is sponsored by the Government Information Office in Taiwan. The Archive is committed to collecting, restoring and preserving Taiwan's motion picture heritage and assists the development of the film industry in Taiwan.

Digifest

Digifest is an annual festival focussing on interactive digital media. The up-coming Digifest will host a design competition called "New Voices" where New Media artists are invited to submit innovative ideas within Film, Web, 3D animation and Digital Gaming. The winners will be given the opportunity to present their work at this four day festival, as well their submission will be printed in the annual Digifest catalogue. The New Voices submission deadline is December 1, 2002. Winners will be notified in January, 2003 and the festival will be held on March 26 - 29, 2003.
