The second annual 3D Entertainment Summit will be September 16-17, 2009 at the Universal City Hilton in Universal City, California.

The 2009 3D Entertainment Summit will accommodate more attendees as it moves to a larger space designated for keynotes and panel discussions, film presentations and larger exhibitor area. In addition, the two-day summit will include a state-of-the-art 3-D digital cinema system for special 3-D studio sneak previews and full feature presentations.

Animation Dance Association Championships

Begins: October 7, 2009

Now for the first time in the history of animation ADA creates a professional league among animators, similar to those of NFL, NBA, and MLB.

ADA divided the planet into four divisions and each division will consist of 30 professional teams.

In order to select the best teams there will be held a 16-week Championship starting on October 7. The main prize is $100,000 but every week you will also have a chance to win $10,000.

Absolutely anybody who created an animated clip and uploaded it to www.adasport.com can take part in the Championship.

10th Annual Woodstock Museum Film/Video Festival

Begins: September 4, 2009

The Woodstock Museum is hosting its 10th film/video festival with the theme of "Change." The festival screens completed features, documentaries, shorts and works in progress. All genres including animation and digital media; everything must be in English (or with English subtitles). Submission formats can be DVD (NTSC and PAL), DV, DVCAM, VHS, S-VHS, Hi-8 or BETA SP.

International Children and Youth Animation Film Festival-VAFI

Festival date: 9th – 11th April 2010 Submission deadline: 15th January 2010 (postal stamp) In order to participate, films must be produced after 1st January 2008 and made by children or youth. Festival has no entry fee. Films must be sent in DVD - PAL format. The number of submitted films is not limited. Every film has to be on a separate DVD. Festival has three categories: a)MINI (children under 10 years) b)MIDI (children from 11 – 14 years)

London International Animation Festival 2009

The London International Animation Festival is Britain's premier showcase for independent animation screening annually, at the beginning of September, showcasing one of the largest collections of auteur independent animation gathered at any festival in the world.

LIAF is a weeklong event, screening up to 10 competitive programs, plus more than 10 curated, themed and retrospective programs. LIAF screens all formats and does not charge entry fees.

Downtown Film Fest - L.A. - 2009

The second annual Downtown Film Festival - Los Angeles (DFFLA), the only dedicated film festival in the historic core of the Entertainment Capital of the World, will be held August, 12-22, 2009. Fest Anca 2009

Begins: July 31, 2009

The second edition of the International Fest Anca Animation Festival, established by the ANCA civic association, will be held on July 31-August 2, 2009 at the Stanica Zilina-Zariecie cultural centre in Zilina, Slovakia.

An international five-member jury -- renowned professionals in the animation field -- will grant three Anca awards to the best animations consisting of a trophy and cash prize. All awards will be announced at closing ceremony of festival on August 2, 2009. The decision of the juries are final.

Animation Club Presents 'Secret Handshake' -- Circus Edition

ANIMATION CLUB!!! presents 'Secret Handshake', a monthly animation night at Loop Bar in Melbourne. Each month, animators from all around the world create a short animation upon a given topic which is then screened and voted upon by the audience. The winner receives fame and glory... and gets to choose the next month's topic.

All animation styles are welcome - from hand-drawn, flash, claymation, stop motion, pixellation - or any combination of these. However - it MUST be animated! No live action allowed!
